BRINGING SOME CHRISTMAS JOY
The Intact Centre at Ingol in Preston is a fabulous community hub. It provides a vast range of services for residents in the area. It can be a social hub for many. For others seeking work, there is help to understands the processes as well as providing voluntary roles to develop skills.
A key feature of that hub is the Whitby Pantry. This is a food club which provides low cost food for a small weekly contribution. This helps to alleviate food insecurity for around 170 families in the Ingol locality.
Preston Guild Lodge have donated £1000 worth of groceries to the Pantry, including some Christmas items such as mince pies and selection boxes for the children. The selection boxes were delivered the week before by the Master of the lodge, David Parker Jnr. This week the bulk grocery order was delivered by members of the lodge.
Some of the selection boxes were used during the Winter Food Festival held at the centre when Father Christmas made an early appearance and delighted the children present. The remainder, and the mince pies, will be made available to families as a free addition to their shopping.
