GARDENING THERAPY
Let’s Grow Preston epitomises the best in Community Service and has quite rightly been selected as one of the Mayor of Preston’s Charities. It promotes physical and mental wellbeing through volunteering in horticulture by creating and improving green spaces in Preston to impact the lives of people living in those communities.
Let’s Grow Preston empowers communities and individuals through projects such as community gardens, improving woodland and park areas, education within food growing, volunteering and providing training within horticulture.
There is a network to help support communities and members by sharing resources and materials, creating projects and workshops, to help grow together.
And their produce supports local foodbanks as well as being on sale in the Ashton Park Walled Garden which creates revenue to sustain the Charity.
The members of Preston Guild Lodge have been delighted to support this extremely valuable charity in our Preston Community as we support the Mayors Charities every year. The Mayor of Preston, Phil Crowe, visited as Noel Colley presented £1000 to Annie Wynne, the CEO of Let’s Grow Preston. Alan Whittle was on hand to assist. The Mayor and Lodge members were treated to an amazing tour of the site with explanations on how different parts of the garden helped improve the health of volunteers in so many ways.
