Preston Guild Lodge were delighted to welcome Sakarias Lankinen into the lodge and the wider masonic family as new member. Sakke is originally from Finland but now lives in Preston with his wife and family.

Sakke recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Law from the University of Central Lancashire. He had thought about Freemasonry for many years and a chance meeting with an established mason led him to Preston Guild Lodge.

On hand to watch Sakke become a Mason was Peter Schofield who is the APGM responsible for the Universities Scheme, and Neil Ward, the Provincial Membership Officer.

The ceremony itself was a wonderful team effort led by the Master of the Lodge, David Parker Jnr. Special mention must go to Dean Cook who was making his debut as Junior Deacon and supported Sakke through all of the ceremony in exemplary manner. Everyone commented on the fine delivery by all officers.

Once Sakke was sat comfortably watching proceedings, Peter Schofield delivered Grand Lodge Certificates to Dean Cook and Dominic Ndulue following their advancement to Master Masons.

After the meeting all retired for a simple pie and peas supper. Sakke made his own maiden speech in thanking the members for welcoming him into the lodge. The master had commented that in just a couple of hours, Sakke had now made many new friends and there were many more friends in masonry yet to meet.
