EDDIE’S EXCELLENT JUBILEE
50 years as a Freemason is an amazing milestone. The members of Preston Guild Lodge, as well as visitors from near and far, came together to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Eddie Taylor. And what a night it was.
Peter Lockett, our Assistant PGM, presided over a wonderfully moving and dignified ceremony marking Eddies 50 years in Freemasonry. Eddie became a mason in the Forest of Fulwood Lodge No 6388 in January 1975. The Forest of Fulwood banner was prominently displayed for him. He was keen to point out that his guide as Deacon on that occasion was sat in the Lodge Room, our senior member, Alan Jackson. That was a great link to the past. As Eddie is also a very active Royal Arch Mason, the lodge room had a strong contingent of Portcullis Chapter members present.
Peter Lockett gave the customary “This is Your Life” outlining both Eddie’s personal journey through life as well as a wonderful masonic journey. The Group Chairman, John Rimmer, presented the Certificate for 50 years’ service to Eddie.
A wonderful celebration meal followed. Ray Lamb, who has known Eddie both outside Freemasonry and in it for over 50 years proposed a sincere Toast to his old friend. Eddie them reminisced on his days in Freemasonry. The lodge then presented Eddie with a donation of £250 to be given in his name to the Rosemere Cancer Foundation. This is a charity very close to the hearts of Eddie and Morag, his wife.
