SAUL STREET 80th ANNIVERSARY BALL
In 1941, the Master of Preston Guild Lodge, Sid Howarth, led a campaign and raised money for Preston Masons to buy their own home. Sid was also the Mayor of Preston at the time. After years of working from a variety of Inns, Taverns and Hotels the Masons found a home on Saul Street in Preston.
In September 1944, Sid led the masons into the new Masonic Hall and over the years the site was developed and extended.
To celebrate 80 years on Saul Street, the Hall held a Ball. The Ballroom was full to capacity with masons, family a friends. Preston Guild had a great turnout. The current Mayor of Preston was guest of honour and Preston Guild Lodge were charged with looking after him. A fitting honour given the history of the building.
