In his final act as the Chair of the 2019 Preston Masters, our IPM W Bro David Parker present cheques to the value of £500 each to the Foxton Centre Hungry Appeal, Preston Community Transport and Barnardos for their Young Carers Service. The presentation was held in the Ballroom at Preston Masonic Hall and representatives from the charities expressed their delight with the donations.

The Foxton Centre Hungry appeal aims to provide 40 hot nutritious meals each week for those who have no home or no means of cooking food. These meals cost £1 each and the Master’s donation will provide 500 miles.

Preston Community Transport provide a volunteer led bus service as well as adapted vehicle to help those with no means transport to get around. This helps prevent feeling of social exclusion for those living alone and feeling isolated. PCT also make their mini buses available for local charities to use.

Barnardos are commissioned by the Lancashire County Council to support the Young Carers. They are children, between 5 and 18 who find that due to illness or disability in parents that they have to be carers in the home. Barnardos have no budget for fun activities so the Master’s donation will provide opportunities for these amazing children to have enjoyment and respite.
